DON'T LET THE BED BUGS BITE!

WHAT IS THE LIFE CYCLE OF A BED BUG?

The life-cycle of a bedbug is; Egg, nymph, adult. While in the nymph stage a bed bug only needs to feed about once every seven to ten days. Once they have fed they shed their skin and wait another week or so to bite again, this form of growth is called an instar. Bedbugs have five instars. Once they become full grown adults (about half the size of a pea) they will bite nearly every day in order to lay eggs, and then the cycle will start all over again. It can take a few months to become fully infested and you may not even know you have bed bugs for months after the initial invasion. Some people don't have very noticeable reactions to the bites and may be feeding the critters for some weeks before realizing what's been eating at them.

HOW DID I GET BED BUGS?

Bed Bugs have been making a major come back across the entire United States. Often people tell us they picked up bedbugs while traveling, even the best and top rated hotels and motels are having trouble keeping bed bugs from invading their rooms. Bat bugs and Chimney swift bugs are very similar to bedbugs both in appearance and behavior. These flying home invaders sometimes bring their parasites with them as they use your house as a summer home. When they fly away for the winter the hungry blood suckers stay behind. If they make their way into the living space you can guess where they will get their meals.

bedbugThey usually feed between two and four in the morning and then stay on your bed or around your bedroom baseboards but some will leave the bedroom and make their way into other furniture, curtain rods and curtains also wall voids and electric outlets; they're small and any tight place they can hang out is fine until they feel the need to feed again.

DO I NEED TO THROW OUT MY BED AND MATTRESS?

NO! Don't throw anything you want to keep away until one of our technicians makes an inspection for bedbugs. We have safe methods for treating all your furniture and furnishings to eliminate the bedbugs without damaging them. Throwing furniture out might get rid of some of the bedbugs but since they don't all live on the mattress the new furniture you bring in will soon be heavily infested too.
